DO YOU KNOW ABOUT COCOPEAT

Cocopeat, also known as coir pith, coir fiber pith, coir dust, or simply coir, is a byproduct gained during the extraction of Coir fiber from coconut husk. Coir dust composted or old mulched dust is collected-screened-dried before made into a bale or small block with various granularity and denseness, which are then used for horticultural and agricultural applications and as industrial absorbent.

Usually, Cocopeat is shipped in the form of compressed bales, briquettes, slabs, or discs; the end user usually expands and aerates the compressed coco peat by the addition of water. This has a high water retention capacity to plant growth. This block/bale is dissolved easily in water. This material increases weight by 8 times when water is added.

CocoPeat makes an excellent growing medium for hydroponics, soil mixes, and container plant growing. This clean coir has natural rooting hormones and anti-fungal properties. It is a 100% organic product.

These are a few benefits of using cocopeat for hydroponic solutions;

  • It is a natural soil-less hydroponic growing medium.
  • Cocopeat is used for a wide range of hydroponic crop production throughout the world including Tomato, Cucumber, Eggplant, Capsicum, Zucchini, Strawberry, Melons, Carnation, Rose, Gerbera, Gypsophila, Lisianthus, Chrysanthemum etc.
  • No harmful environment impact.
  • Cocopeat serves as an organic alternative to Rockwool and Perlite media without the environmental disposal issues.
  • Hydroponic crop production using Cocopeat offers the opportunity to consistently maximize yield and quality with minimal environmental impact associated with the utilization of this renewable resource.
  • Excellent quality and high-yield vegetable and cut flower crops.
  • The high water holding capacity provides a buffer in high temperatures and high crop load demand without compromising air supply.
  • The presence of organic compounds in Cocopeat can stimulate root growth and offer some natural resistance to plant disease
  • Produces crops for up to five years.
  • Provides careful hygiene and crop management is practiced, Cocopeat can be used for successive production cycles with short-term crops and can produce crops like roses for up to five years.
